Highlights of Student Success Programming

Eden House Foundation has worked with teens and young adults for over four decades, and we have learned that without support and guidance, navigating continued education can be difficult for them, especially during treatment or in their lives in recovery.

Offered at Eden House Foundation Pennsylvania and Eden House Foundation Renaissance in Florida, our Student Success Programming offers in-treatment and post-treatment support and guidance.

For High School Students

  • On-site classroom at Eden House Foundation Pennsylvania, offered in partnership with an educational provider and in alliance with patients’ home schools, allows patients to continue their schoolwork while in treatment, so they can maintain their academic status and return to their classes after treatment. A credentialed teacher oversees patients as they work on their school assignments and communicates with schools, parents, and the patient’s clinical team as needed.
  • Optional In-Treatment and Post-Treatment Student Success Programs at Eden House Foundation Pennsylvania and Eden House Foundation Renaissance provide recovery-informed academic support and educational planning. With a wealth of experience in the education and addiction treatment fields, Student Success coaches help teens and young adults navigate their academic options, improve and maintain strong academic performance, and understand what they will need to do to achieve a healthy life in recovery.
  • During treatment, the coach is the student’s liaison to their home school, keeping teachers and guidance counselors up to date on their needs and progress. Weekly conversations enable the student and Student Success coach to partner with the therapist to ensure that their scholastic goals align with their overall recovery plan.
  • Post-treatment, the coach connects with the student via weekly phone/video calls to help them successfully integrate back into the academic environment, meet challenges as they arise, and create a rewarding life in recovery. The Student Success coach also works collaboratively with school staff to stay up to date on the student’s academic progress and needs.
  • Optional High School Success Program at Eden House Foundation Outpatient Treatment Center in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, helping adolescents move from clinical in-patient treatment at Eden House Foundation to their life in recovery, supported by Eden House Foundation Student Success coaches to meet their academic and recovery goals. The young adults also benefit from a structured environment while living in a recovery house.

For Post-High School Young Adults and College Students

  • Optional In-Treatment and Post-Treatment Student Success Programs at Eden House Foundation Pennsylvania and Eden House Foundation Renaissance support high school graduates and college students as they create and work toward educational and personal goals.
  • During treatment, the coach meets with the young adult weekly. Using the results of educational assessments and an evaluation of the young adult’s academic history as well as school records, the Student Success coach and young adult work together to plan for his/her post-treatment life. This planning includes coordinating tasks, such as helping the young adult to explore the pros and cons of medical leave vs. taking an incomplete, identify best-fit colleges, navigate the application process, and create sober supports for their life in recovery.
  • Post-treatment, the coach works with the young adult in weekly phone/video calls to build the skills needed for post-treatment success, including building accountability, meeting educational/career goals, managing time, creating a best-fit college list, and developing an application/admissions strategy.
  • The Sober Dorm Program at Eden House Foundation Renaissance in Florida offers an alternative for students who want the structure and services of off-campus recovery-supportive housing. The program helps foster a safe collegiate recovery environment of like-minded individuals working together daily to practice the principles of recovery and abstain from using drugs and alcohol. An academic liaison is available and serves as an advocate to help students clarify, define, and reach their academic goals and will work collaboratively with the student and the school to further support the student’s needs.
